The classic relaxing tanning experience. Lower-pressure tubes, longer sessions, full-body coverage. Operated by Sun Palms inside the House of Beauty studio.
Book with Sun PalmsLay-down sunbeds are the classic tanning experience: lie back, close your eyes, let the session pass. The lamps are lower-pressure than stand-up tubes so sessions run a bit longer, but the experience is more relaxing — most clients use the time as a 15-minute mental reset alongside the tan.
Sun Palms operate three lay-down beds inside the House of Beauty studio — so availability is good even in peak hours. Their team handles consultation, session timing and skin-type assessment.
5-minute Fitzpatrick check before your first session. The Sun Palms team set a safe starting time.
Bed wiped down between every client. Goggles provided. Tan-accelerator lotion optional.
9 mins for new tanners and very fair skin; 12 mins for established tanners; 15 mins for darker skin types or maintenance.
Don't shower for 4 hours after — gives the tan time to develop fully.
Hydrate generously, moisturise daily. Sunbed tans fade faster on dry skin, so a daily after-tan lotion is the simplest way to keep colour true for longer.
Sun Palms follow UK Sunbed (Regulation) Act 2010 standards. Under-18s cannot use the beds. Pregnancy, certain medications and skin conditions are contraindications — disclose at the first appointment.
Sun Palms lay-down sessions run 9, 12 or 15 minutes depending on your skin type and stage. New clients start at the shortest session.
Lay-down beds are gentler and more relaxing — better for first-timers building a base tan. Stand-up beds tan faster but are more intense.
Just yourself. Sun Palms provide goggles and a wipe-down kit between sessions; tan accelerator lotions are sold separately.
Most clients see initial colour after 3–4 sessions, with a noticeable tan after 6–8. Spacing is more important than length — twice-weekly sessions outperform daily ones.
